After founding Nothung in the '80s and then Walkyria with Vincenzo Santopietro - three albums released with his presence in the line-up, appearances on Rock TV, Taxi Channel, MTV and concerts in support of Ritmo Tribale, Malfunk and others - Donato Gallicchio returns to the scene with Lucus.
"Rage of Creation" contains three previously unreleased tracks and a cover of Judas Priest's "Breaking the Law". "Standing Devotion" is an edgy track with good, and driving vocals by Teresa De Lucia and Gianni Barbaro, alternating between the melody of the female vocalist and the clean, growl of the male vocalist.
"Betrayed Love" has a slow intro that increases in intensity, fast drums and vocals that don't deviate much from the previous track. "Over the Lines" is a slow track, featuring an excellent guitar solo and Teresa De Lucia's solo voice and tones with an eighties flavour. The homage to Judas Priest with "Breaking The Law" closes the EP.
In general Gianni's clean voice is very convincing, Donato Gallicchio's bass lines are very good and Vito Mottola's drumming is also brilliant.
"Rage of Creation" is a good debut with the right good potential for the future, maybe, and I emphasize maybe, the only lack of the band is the originality in creating their own identity but this does not take away from the fact that Lucus know exactly how to play. "Rage of Creation" definitely worth a listen.
